How we help community through education?


We focus on academic, health, human rights, and environmental education. This includes:

  • individual student scholarships

  • resources such as school uniforms, shoes, winter clothing, teacher training material, student textbooks, creative arts and sports equipment

  • education programs include nutrition, protection of children against sexual exploitation and women against domestic violence, climate change and the effect of pollution


Education is the key to breaking the poverty cycle and providing children with choices to improve their standard of living and options for their future.  This has been a key focus area since REACH for Nepal began in 2015 and to date.

Delivery of Health and Hygiene Program to a Mother’s Group community at Taksar Syangja in

Delivery of Health and Hygiene Program to a Mother’s Group community at Taksar Syangja in March 2024

This packaged program on health and hygiene was delivered to the Mother’s Group by a registered nurse.  The program also included delivery of school uniform, stationery, teacher training materials etc to Sishu Kalyan Janapriya School. The beneficiaries were 30 attendees from 3 mother’s group, 37 students from the school (that included 27 girls) and 9 teachers.

The impact of the project included children having access to high-quality education, which will help reduce inequalities and poverty in the area and for mother’s group to be aware of basic health and hygiene that could reduce avoidable health complications.

Health & Hygiene Education Delivery by University of Canberra Faculty of Health in 2019

The University of Canberra together with the REACH for Nepal Foundation developed an academic learning program to educate women and children in a remote village on health and hygiene.  The delivery of the program contributed to the health degree the students were undertaking with the objectives of the program being aligned with the health course. At the completion of the Community Rebuild Program, University of Canberra  students were able to:

 

  • educate the Nepalese people in key nutrition and public health issues;

  • demonstrate an understanding of the challenges of achieving positive health outcomes in a developing country, and

  • demonstrate an understanding of the challenges faced by a developing country when rebuilding after a devastating event.

Impact of our Education program over recent years

  • In 2020/21 – 36 students (21 female) accessed improved educational facilities, classroom resources, school uniforms, school bags, and basic stationery materials.

  • In 2022/23 – 96 students (38 female) classroom resources, school uniforms, school bags, and basic stationery materials.

  • In 2023/24 – 133 students (80 female) accessed improved educational facilities, classroom resources, school uniforms, school bags, and basic stationery materials.
